I am a Cambodian interpreter, journalist, and storyteller with over a decade of experience working across international military, media, and human rights fields. My professional journey began in 2010 when I served as an interpreter and translator for the U.S. Army during several multinational military exercises in Cambodia, including “Angkor Sentinel” (2010) and “CARAT Cambodia” (2010, 2011). In these roles, I facilitated communication between American military personnel and Cambodian forces, contributing to cross-cultural understanding and operational effectiveness during joint training missions. From 2014 to 2017, I transitioned into journalism as a professional reporter for Radio Free Asia (RFA) in Phnom Penh. There, I investigated and reported on issues ranging from politics and social justice to environmental concerns. My work was dedicated to bringing forward the voices of the marginalized and holding authorities accountable through evidence-based reporting. Since 2018, I have worked as a freelance journalist based in Kampot, contributing stories to both local and international news outlets, including CamboJA, a prominent independent journalist network in Cambodia. My reporting continues to focus on in-depth storytelling, with a strong emphasis on human rights, governance, and community resilience. In 2024, I was honored to receive a national award for in-depth feature writing, recognizing a story that highlighted systemic challenges faced by rural communities amid development projects. This award reaffirmed my commitment to truth, ethical journalism, and giving a platform to underreported voices. Today, I remain deeply engaged with Cambodia’s evolving media landscape, using my multilingual skills and field experience to contribute to a more transparent and informed society.

Since January 2024, I’ve been running a Free Class and small library in Cambodia. I started this project on my own, using my personal savings to build and maintain the space. It began as a simple idea—to give local children a chance to learn, read, and grow in a safe environment. I’ve been teaching the classes myself and taking care of the daily needs of the library. Over time, some media in Cambodia noticed my work and shared it with the public. That support helped a lot. Many kind people also started buying mangoes from my farm, and that income has helped me keep the class going. It’s not always easy, but this has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. I’m proud to continue, step by step, with the hope of creating a better future for the children.
