Saddia Mazhar is an award-winning investigative journalist, digital media entrepreneur, and Right to Information (RTI) activist from Islamabad, Pakistan. She founded two independent bilingual media outlets: The Reporters—a platform dedicated to investigative journalism and RTI-based stories—and Journalism for Human Rights, which amplifies the voices of marginalized communities and human rights defenders. With a Master’s in Mass Communication and Education, Saddia has worked with both national and international media organizations, including Dawn, The News, DW, Reuters, and the East-West Center. She is also a recipient of three RTI-related awards, including the RTI Champion Award by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, making her the only journalist from Punjab to earn this distinction. Since 2022, she has been Pakistan’s only female journalist actively and consistently using RTI laws to hold authorities accountable and empower citizens with their constitutional right to information (Article 19-A). Saddia has completed several prestigious fellowships, including the Asian Journalism Fellowship (Singapore), and has led international reporting projects on climate change, plastic pollution, rural development, transgender rights, and press freedom. She is currently leading the independent project “Voices from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Resilience Amid Crisis,” which investigates climate, education, healthcare, and governance issues while training local women journalists in RTI and media laws.
