In Saint Petersburg in October 2023 I took it upon myself to get a first-hand experience of the city after almost 2 years of sanctions to see how things have changed for the average Russian and how it affects tourists like me. This included visiting Yusopov Palace, the Hermitage Museum, Peter and Paul Fortress and many other places that locals only know about.
I visited Kaliningrad Russia before setting up shop for now, the reason being that the region as a whole is like being in a time capsule. A blend of old Prussia and central Europe, despite the location, has very good transport links to the outside world via Gdansk in neighbouring Poland. Whilst internal travel to Russia is very straight forward and cost-effective.
My YouTube Channel, where I go into articulate detail on recent trips such as Russia and how I was accosted by the FSB (federal security service) detained and fined for being in a restricted military area.
