Khabat Abbas is an independent journalist and video producer based in Northern Syria. Since 2011 She has extensively covered the developments that have shaken her country starting with the popular demonstrations, to the frontlines until the fight against the so-called Islamic State and its aftermath. She has widely published in local outlets as Firat and Hawar news agencies and has worked as a producer and a stringer with some of the most influential foreign outlets a TF1, ABC, Arte, The Washington Post, The Spiegel, Sunday Times, Daily Mail among others. Abbas has also experience in the humanitarian field when serving at MSF in projects aiming to assist the internally displaced persons and in the protection unit with the UNHCR. During the pandemic she co-author a Pandemic Solidarity book. Khabat was a finalist for the News Fixer Prize by the Kurt Schork Memorial Fund. she holds a B.A in English Literature from Aleppo University and an under-graduate diploma of political science from Damascus University.
