Chrissie Long is a freelance reporter living in Boston, Massachusetts. She moved to New England from Central America where she covered stories of international significance such as the Honduras crisis, the election of the Costa Rica’s first female president and issues of development and foreign market integration. She worked as a political reporter for The Tico Times, specializing in health, education, politics and foreign relations, and occasionally contributes to tourism/features publications. Most recently she served as Costa Rican travel correspondent for About.com. Previously, Chrissie served as assistant editor for the Newton TAB in Massachusetts, where she participated in a case between GateHouse Media Inc. and The New York Times Co. over news aggregation, helped build the Tab’s Website to one of the most heavily-trafficked weekly newspapers in New England and received numerous awards for her writing, including coverage of a racial or ethnic issue, 2007 and 2008 (NEPA); runner-up for government reporting (NEPA); election coverage (NEPA) and a finalist for features writer of the year and news writer of the year at GateHouse Media, Inc. Her work has appeared in The Patriot Ledger, the Christian Science Monitor, the Miami Herald, the Colorado Springs Business Journal, Latin Trade Magazine, the Catholic News Service, University World News, Jetsetter and Metrowest Daily News.
